International day against sexual exploitation and human trafficking

The International Day against Sexual Exploitation and Trafficking of Women and Children is celebrated every 23 September.

Trafficking in person is a serious crime and a grave violation of human rights. Every year, thousands of men, women and children fall into the hands of  traffickers. Almost every country in the world is affected by trafficking.

The number of victims of trafficking for sexual exploitation is alarming. An estimated two-thirds of the victims of trafficking are women and most cases are related to sexual exploitation.
